Bridging the Gap: Traditional Journaling in a Digital Era

We know many of you cherish the process of writing by hand—it's personal, it's tactile, and for many, it's a ritual that fosters creativity and mindfulness. Now, you can scan your handwritten journal pages directly into the Morning Pages app, combining the personal touch of pen and paper with the convenience and insights of our digital platform.

Connection to Julia Cameron’s Philosophy

Julia Cameron, the pioneer behind the Morning Pages technique, has long advocated for writing by hand as a powerful tool to connect with our right brain. She believes that this connection sparks creativity and intuitive thought. Respecting this foundational aspect, our new feature supports the original spirit of Morning Pages by seamlessly integrating your handwritten work into our app, allowing the tradition of handwriting to thrive in our digital age.

How It Works:

  1. Write Freely: Write your thoughts and reflections by hand on paper.
  2. Scan with Ease: Simply open your Morning Pages app on your iPhone or iPad, tap the 'plus' icon, select 'Scan Handwriting', and take photos of your handwritten pages.
  3. Sync and Access: Your entries are instantly digitized. They're not only stored securely but are also synced across your devices. This means you can start your entry on your iPad and later view or continue on your Mac or through our browser app.
  4. Discover Insights: With your entries digitized, our AI tools analyze your text to provide insights into your mood, emotions, and the topics you explore in your writing, enhancing your understanding of your personal journaling patterns.

Scanning functionality is exclusive to our iPhone and iPad users and is available as part of our Pro subscription.

Embracing the beloved practice of handwriting while incorporating the efficiency and analytical power of digital tools represents a significant step forward for our community. It ensures that everyone can continue their preferred style of journaling and benefit from the latest technological advancements.
